What if... converting fears into allies?
What if we could convert our fears into allies?
To do that, we must first confront our fears. Which is why I have been asking school leaders to answer three questions:
What question do I think our faculty and staff are afraid to ask?
What question do I think our parents / guardians are afraid to ask?
What question am I [as a school leader] afraid to ask?
Last week, dozens of school leaders began to turn those fears into questions in this document. If you also work in a school, please consider adding to this document. And if you know someone who works in a school, please encourage them to add their questions, too.
COVID-19 has brought us into a place of deep uncertainty, which often induces fear. We may not be able to control that automatic response, but if we name our fears—and help others to name theirs—we can give our fears new shape in the form of questions.
Fears are enemies.
Questions are allies.
