What is SocEntEDU?
According to Google, the phrase “social entrepreneurship” was virtually non-existent before 1980. From 1980 to 2005 there was a slight uptick. In the last 15 years, the term has positively exploded in usage.
Why?
As the world has become profoundly networked, we are witnessing more and more problems we have never seen. We are also sharing more and more methods for solving those problems.
So:
If the mission of school is to produce citizens who will contribute to the common good, and…
If we define “social entrepreneurship” as creative and collaborative problem-solving on behalf of the common good…
Then every school ought to produce social entrepreneurs.
That is why the Basecamp team co-founded SocEntEDU, a diverse-by-design collaborative of educators committed to forming the next generation of change makers.
On February 26th, we are bringing together 25 people interested in social entrerpreneurship education. Only 5 spots remain, so if you know someone who might be interested please share this with them.
How is your organization forming change makers who will work on the most pressing problems of our time?
