What if... seeds & sparks?

What if we replace the mechanical-industrial notion of “wasting time” with the biological / ecological notion of “seeds and sparks”?

When curriculum means a laundry list of content and skills “to cover,” then time is a resource that always slips away from us (because we can never cover all the content and skills).

But when curriculum means each formational experience a child has at school, then time can be a slow resource, like seeds nurtured for future growth; or time can be a rapid resource, like an explosion of sparks.

Sometimes learners need seeds. Sometimes they need sparks.

But do you know any learners who need an hourglass spilling sand until time has run out?

Each Wednesday we share a “what if” scenario. Consider it a provocation rather than a suggestion.
