What if... new anchors and hooks?

What if you could choose new words for your school?

What would you talk about instead of your “curriculum”? Or your “administrative team”? Or your “handbook”?

What if you could socialize new metaphors for your school?

Would you still call yourself a “family” (a metaphor that every other school uses)?

Words and metaphors are powerful anchors and hooks. They organize our thinking; our thinking organizes our behavior; and our behavior organizes our schools.

Have you chosen your words and metaphors, or have you merely accepted the ones you were handed?

Each Wednesday we share a “what if” scenario. Consider it a provocation rather than a suggestion.
