What if... PhBL?

What if learners engaged in Phenomenon-Based Learning every day?

*Inspired by "Finland thinks it has designed the perfect school. This is what it looks like," by Adam Jezard, on World Economic Forum, who writes:

"The curriculum [...] requires at least one extended period of so-called phenomenon-based teaching and learning [PhBL]. During this, students study a traditional subject in a holistic manner. They must be involved in planning these periods and must be able to assess what they learned from it.

"[Finnish Education Minister] Ms Grahn-Laasonen said: 'Schools can choose a theme like climate change and you can look at it from very different perspectives, from very different subjects like mathematics … It's giving our children skills to think about subjects like climate change from different perspectives.'"

Each Wednesday we share a "what if" scenario. These are not suggestions as much as provocations.

If you have a "what if" scenario you would like to share, just send an email (and indicate whether you would like it attributed it to you).
