What if... 3 ideas from Hawaii
Viktor Venson and I spent last week at the Punahou School, the largest independent school in the country. Our visit included a "Future of Learning" panel discussion with "Planetwalker" John Francis and educational innovation expert Tony Wagner.
That conversation yielded several interesting "What if's." Here are my three favorites.
***
"What if schools were to grow outside of their campus walls? What if there were a 'walking culture'--what might students and teachers learn from walking the world outside of campus that they couldn't learn by staying on campus?"
--John Francis
"What if every student maintained a question journal? And what if, every once in a while, we asked students to circle one of her questions and pursue it?"
--Tony Wagner
"What if there were a virtual reality 'library' that allowed learners to mix and remix possible futures? And if a learner found one possible future appealing, what if the program would tell that learner, 'If you like this, here are some ways you can get to this future...'?"
--Viktor Venson

Each Wednesday we share a "what if" scenario. These are not suggestions as much as provocations.
If you have a "what if" scenario you would like to share, just send an email (and indicate whether you would like it attributed it to you).
