There's the slow food movement. What if we embraced 'slow education'? What if we taught 'slow reading' rather than 'skimming'? What if we allowed students to experience learning at their own speed, keenly aware of the world around them, instead of sprinting with their eyes fixed on the finish line? What if, instead of speeding through content, through classes, through relationships, our schools provided the space and time for students to go deep rather than skim the surface, to immerse rather than dip, to do one task well and with pleasure rather than trying to do many things at once?
